So far? Three excellent stories followed by one quite bad story which is a pretty solid ratio

Really enjoyable so far but I would argue that saying the sheriff’s star grave foregrounding the first zombie is less interesting to attribute to law and order going “belly up” than it is to see law and order and zombies as dual threats.

everyone's favorite philosophical feminist scifi of the last 10-15 years would absolutely not exist without the dispossessed. this is not a subtweet of A book this is a general reflection on all of them.

Mace windu wants to do a “a little straightforward, uncomplicated buttwhipping”

But the Jedi are not allowed to do a buttwhipping

And this too is the regressive sexual politics of the Jedi :(

Best part of the “introduction” (it’s a prologue) is when palpatine is overcome with horror at the existence of swords that are simply sharp pieces of metal

I’m sorry but “at least we were just bitten by bats and it wasn’t a ghost” is an insane thing to say and one of these kids is a fact machine. You guys need to exit these woods and get rabies shots immediately. I’m like not a huge proponent of books demonstrating Everyone Makes Good Choices but tbh I think you shouldn’t put “bat bites are fine” in ur book for 9 year olds
