Fucking he’ll Steve Bachmann. I’ve counted five!! spelling errors already. Every one for the word RECHERCHE (editor capitalizes the word, I’m not yelling, though I am annoyed), that word being Bachmann’s shorthand for Proust’s seven volume epic. Seriously?!? Editor that cannot spell? Ugh.

Sprawling epic that keeps you invested page after page after page. Color me surprised, and gleeful.

Sorta dreaded starting this one! So.Many.Pages. But I’m a sucker for a Western well told, and this one has the proper feel to it already. 1456743 pages to go 😂

when did "where i am" become "where I'm at"? Or "where are you?" become "where are you at?"??

Mostly quite grand, with a few that just didn't work for me at all.

I can never decide: read a book of short stories front to back, like a novel? Or read a story or two at a time and take a break, do something else, and then commence reading again? I usually read through, because if the stories are great I want more, and if a story isn't so good I want to get to the next one and forget about the last one. Weak rule, but it doesn't allow for not reading through, does it? New rule?

A rather droll beginning to this book, author's stylistics notwithstanding.

Interesting...
Hate that this book is retitled for the USofA. It is Greig's Darklands series novella "Columba's Bones".
Why not just list it as an edition of the original?
