I find the development of the hollywood system so fascinating and incredibly sleazy. Elizabeth Taylor’s success at this point (early 1950s) seems to have happened both because of and in spite of that system. Odd and enthralling.

I wasn’t expecting an entire paragraph about emotional regulation, but I love the way Murakami drops simple truths into his work.
