Pondering possible Narben sighting?

I nearly gave up on this but finally we have a plot development!

Sebastian and Trevor both seem like arsehats tbh. I’ll give it another couple of chapters but the internal
Monologue of Sebastian - his objectification of women and the way Trevor and Sebastian talk to each other about same is 🤮

‘I have longed for you, longer than I had a name for longing.’ -Vale

Reading the review didn’t prepare me for this book! It’s a hard, dark, hopeless world but the writing is lyrical, rich, potent. Yes there’s some descriptions of maggots and stuff at the start, but it’s the resignation to fate, the hopelessness and the court intrigue that’s gripping me. Elara could have been a good person, a gentle person but she hasn’t been dealt that hand.

‘My bones turn to overcooked carrots’ I have no idea why but this amuses me

Chapter 12: “I don’t know why I sound like I’m confessing to eating a squirrels nipples for lunch” is potentially the funniest and most bizzare sentence I’ve read all year

It’s cute! There cute. As a total departure from what I normally read, no one’s trying to kill anyone, war isn’t coming and no one has trauma. How refreshing.

“The list of men you have prevented me from killing is almost as long as the list of men I’ve actually killed”.
“Don’t be dramatic”.

I freakin loved this book. I thought the twist was refreshingly different. I enjoyed the ideas around morality and perspective. Yes I still have questions, there were parts of the text that I was like huh? But I’m hopping the next book helps answer those niggles.
I was surprised to see a few typos in the last couple of chapters.

First thoughts: I love Aurora, she’s irreverent…..oh shit 🫣
Also Messer - he’s giving Ridoc or Carrion vibes 🥳

Chapters 76 & 77 utter writing perfection the soaring crescendo to 5 books of careful layered stories, plots and narratives. Let’s gooooo

“Should I thank you for putting on pants?” - Lorcan
“I didn’t want you to feel inadequate.” - Rowan

Asterin blinked, the gold flecks in her black eyes glittering. “What are you planning?”
“Something very stupid I think.”

Of Asterin : “That wildness, that untamed fierceness….they weren’t born of a free heart, but of one that had known despair so complete that living brightly, loving violently, was the only way to outrun it.”

Defect! Defect! Defect!

Are you fucking kidding me???!!!!

Rowan’s back!
