Look, this is a mindless read for pure entertainment while I get shit together in my life, but I still must say...stop with the italics. The writing should speak for itself. The excessive use of slanty words is lazy.

Did I ever finish this book? I have no idea, and I’m not going to bother with a reread to find out.

I hate Dani. And Zoe, for that matter. They’re basically the exact same character. Whiny, weepy, annoying Mary Sues. I can’t stand them.

Oh yeah, this is how much I’ve read. I keep on waiting for it to get better. Does that ever actually happen?

I’m reading this because I enjoy punishing myself, apparently. It’s like watching a train wreck happen in super slow motion and I have the power to stop it by deleting this disaster from my Kindle and scrubbing it from my brain but I hate myself I guess so I’m still reading it.

The constant misuse of words is painful and detracts from the story.

Pretty awful but for some reason I'm still reading it.

See progress updates I left on book one. Stilted, choppy, and confusing in a poorly-written kind of way. Pushing through a bit longer. Might have to DNF this one.

Shit, just found it. Not listed under the series but was listed under her other work.

Also, I'm reading the Volume 1-5 edition on KU. Didn't see that listed in Goodreads. My percentage read will be very off because of that.

In the books defense, I did just finish reading a fairly well-crafted series (not without its flaws, but the author definitely knows how to write). I'm always a bit harsh on the books I read immediately following a series I've truly enjoyed. I'm going to try to slog my way through this a bit longer, in hopes the flow of the story begins to improve.

I'm fairly early in book one, and so far I find it to be...confusing. Not in a "wow, this story is so involved and detailed, I must read more to figure it out" kind of way. Instead it's in a "what the hell, why does nothing make sense, this is so choppy and unnatural" kind of way. It's stilted. It doesn't flow. The character interactions don't make sense at this point. Not loving it so far.

I take back what I said about the calling of names. Stop the damned madness. I picture someone loudly calling out to someone every. single. time.

HOLD UP. Somebody just walked past some windows. He didn't walk passed: he walked PAST. And although names are still being called instead of said, it doesn't happen as often. As one of the heroes in these books would say, "This pleases me."

Sometimes I HATE the men in this world. She tried to talk to you, Apollo. You wouldn't listen.

"This shit is whacked. Totally whacked." You know what, Maddie, you're right. This shit really IS whacked.

I was about to comment on an error regarding pregnancy, but then I remembered that, in these books, a sonographer can miss twins on a mid-pregnancy scan. Was I actually expecting accuracy for a moment there? LOL, my bad.

Please tell me more (in yet another book) about this universe's amazing, kickass, to-die-for underwear.

Circe's internal dialogue seems familiar...probably because it's identical to Finnie's. I thought reading these books back-to-back would be a good idea, since I've become slightly immune to the constant errors. Unfortunately, it also highlights the fact that the two heroines have the same thoughts and use the same phrases.
