Shane is starting Impossible Creatures (Impossible Creatures, #1)
All I've read is the prologue Bestiary, and I'm already hooked! I think I'm going to enjoy this one a lot.

Now that was an opening chapter! Got me immediately hooked. I've also loved the commentary on social media so far, but hope kids don't find it too preachy when they read it.

Hmmmm. Not 100% convinced about this. I loved Ivan so much, but Bob's voice isn't coming through as strongly. Also, we are one third in and nothing has happened yet! Really hope it will turn around from here.

One step into this journey and I already know I'm going to love this book! Love the interplay between Coyote and the slushy boy!

Loving it so far! Only read 2 stories, but "The Low Cuts Strike Again" is going to take some beating!

I'm listening to the audio book, so I get that I'm only getting half the experience, but I have to say this isn't grabbing me so far. Given it is highly rated by respected reviewers, I will continue and hope it improves.

I have a strange, powerless feeling reading this book. It is very clear early on that Caden is descending into a pit of anxiety and, later, OCD type behaviour. But I can't see how the story is going to progress, I am just "watching" this happen, not particularly enjoying it and powerless to stop it. This, of course, may be quite intentional from Shusterman and mirror exactly what Caden's parents are feeling.

Loved this quote..."even though he is the computer whiz of our trio, his own computer is a piece of garbage that crashes if you whisper the word graphics in a 3 foot radius."

Loving this book! Unauthorised Bread gave me the same feel as Little Brother...this may be fiction, but it is very realistic fiction and is scarily believable. Model Minority was very different and unexpected, but thoroughly enjoyable. Looking guests to the rest.

Loving this so far, although I think some aspects need explaining. Why do we have scythes? I originally thought it was for population control, but later chapters proved this not to be the case.

Why all the different methods of death? Why not just the painless, instant poison or massive electric shock for all?

Often these types of novels (for example, The Giver) present their vision of utopia, before drawing back the curtain to reveal the underlying darkness. I think the curtain just got drawn back!

So far, this is as great as I hoped and expected it to be! A wide variety of interesting prompts, along with creative responses from a large number of authors. Looking forward to using it with my students!

I'm enjoying this adaptation so far, although that raindrop at the start only made me imagine Forest Gump's feather!

I can already tell I am going to enjoy this book. The premise is fascinating (if not original), what if Hitler won WWII? What would a world under the Third Reich look like? Throw in a bit of Hunger Games and a fascinating central character and you have a winner.

Loving this so far! (As expected, of course). Kate DiCamillo has such a wonderful way with words and creates such quirky characters.
Little descriptions are sprinkled throughout, such as "The world smelled of unshared chocolate caramels and dust and beeswax." (Although I did note that not too much later Louisiana didn't share her chocolate).
I do have one reservation, but I will wait until I have finished to comment.

This is certainly different to what I was expecting from the first 50 pages! I'm enjoying "Then" a lot more than "Now", but now all the revelations I have been expecting have been revealed, I am wondering what the last quarter of the book has in store.

Been enjoying this book, although the whole "cult" plot seems very contrived. We've just hit a new level of crazy. I take it the author had had some very negative experiences with religion!

Really picking up the pace now. When it sticks with one host, the story starts to work and gather momentum. The problem is when it tries to explain interactions between all the hosts - it just confuses things more.

Can't decide with this book. Both captivating and infuriating. The mystery of what is going on and the unique premise are interesting, but the lack of clarity and some inconsistencies are annoying. The "endless loop" talked about by the plague doctor seems to make the whole thing meaningless. If Aiden can't figure out the murder now, won't he just get another shot at it, based on what he is being told?

Intriguing so far. I like the setting and the mystery of Dr Bellwether, who he is and who Anna is. Just started to get all a bit supernatural.

I am thoroughly enjoying this so far. While I have limited experience of Asperger's, only seeing it in the classroom - not living with it day to day, the portrayal of Caitlin seems very realistic, and touching. Unfortunately, the "school shooting" aspect of the novel remains all too relevant.
