I bit of a basic story so far but it’s alright. I am excited for a friends to lovers but I fear that I may already find this story boring. Maybe it wasn’t fair to stat this right after back to back bangers. 😭

Wow I really like how this history book is written in a way that’s really engaging. I love how the author combines both historical archives and mythology. He mentions the traditions of ancient Egyptians too which was quite interesting and makes connections with events in the future and the modern world.

It’s crazy how we see Philip transform from this well established generous gentleman into this crazy mad scientist in just a few pages. This gives very much Frankenstein vibes with the dog person having to life as a creature rejected by its owner and the people around it. I love it.

Omg the heart chapter is insane. What do you mean mfs thought anemia was a disease for beautiful virgins?? And the fact that mfs said women’s heart conditions were just in her head when it’s their NUMBER 1 cause of death more than all cancers combined. Holy shit. And all machines (EKGs, angioscopy machines, etc) are based off men!! The first campaign for women’s heart health was in 2004 what the fuck.

They were so desperate to just declare women as naturally inferior when they weren’t even using the accurate skeleton of a woman. Man the bones chapter is filled with a bunch of idiocy.

The fighting scenes introduce the magic system really well honestly but there’s sm going on it makes it a bit harder to picture. I’m missing Abercrombie’s writing style rn ngl I miss the humour, ugly gore and the fun character interactions 😭 mannn
