Steve Adkins is finished with Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind
Very interesting take on the history of human kind. I am not sure that I agree with all of his assumptions but a fascinating read none the less.

Steve Adkins is finished with Van Gogh: A Power Seething
Excellent concise biography of Vincent Van Goth written by a gifted painter and author. I have been fascinated by Van Gogh since high school French class. I had the good fortune to visit the Van Gogh Museum in Holland in 1979. I would love to go back and linger as an older and possibly wiser observer. Recommended.

Steve Adkins is finished with Pure, White and Deadly: The new facts about the sugar you eat as a cause of heart disease, diabetes and other killers
First published in 1972 this book was way ahead of its time in exposing the risks of sugar in our diet. Even though his work was dismissed at the time research in the past decade has validated his concerns. on practically every point.

Steve Adkins is finished with The Rational Optimist: How Prosperity Evolves
Excellent read. As long as individuals are free to exchange goods and services and most importantly ideas the future looks bright indeed. Human progress is from the ground up and evolutionary and will continue unless encumbered by needless bureaucracy and meddling by those in power. Also illustrates how a libertarian philosophy is the most inherently optimistic viewpoint.

Steve Adkins is finished with The Big Fat Surprise: Why Butter, Meat and Cheese Belong in a Healthy Diet
Excellent review of the history of nutrition science and policy over the last 100 years demonstrating how what we have been told and how the recommendation to reduce total fat and saturated fat in particular in our diet has been based more on politics and professional egos than basic science. Highly recommended reading.
