Yes, I'm reading Paradise Lost AND this. Leave me alone.

Doing a slow read with an online book club.

Her crankyness really inspires me.

I'm having such a weird reading experience with this book. I never feel like I want to read it or I want to know what will happen next. The "magic system" (if you can call it that) and the premise are quite interesting, but I'm not at all invested in the main character (quite a Gary Stu). So I keep thinking about dnf-ing it, and then I pick it up to finally convince myself and then I'm hooked. Grah, what to do?

I'm loving this so much, BUT. A character just defined "Zweisamkeit" as "feeling lonely even when you're with other people". Which is very very wrong. It's actually one of those very hard to define words, I would say it's that cozy feeling of being someone who understands you so well it's like being with yourself, but better, because you're not alone.

Ok, back to reading.

I was excited for this, but now I see that one of the chapters is about Jordan Peterson? Ugh. It's the last chapter, so I'll proceed for now. With caution.

Another one for work. Weird to read this in a Spanish translation, but I trust the translators.

I totally thought I would be reading some new German fiction, but I couldn't resist this - besides Christa Wolf she is the ex-GDR author that I most admire. Big non-fiction thumpers where I read in great detail about fourth grade school exercises of writers only a small minority of people have even heard of seem to be my jam these days.

Just something short and hopefully beautiful before diving back into stuff I have to read for work.

The story is charming enough, but omg how do people read these translations? It's so bad the text doesn't even make sense! I just read "no era mas que una buena deportista" (for "she was nothing if not a good sport") and "volvería corriendo a sus colinas" (for "he'd run for the hills") in the same paragraph and I don't know if I can do this.

Just something silly I picked up because librarians. I'm already irritated because all the guys are SO BIG AND STRONG. One of them is a literal lumberjack. What keeps me reading so far is that the book at the center of the love story/mystery is "Tropic of Cancer" which is - different. We'll see.

My endless to-read list is making me anxious. Especially as I'm in a phase where I'm not really reading as much.

Any tips on how to handle it? I'm thinking of keeping a paper list somewhere in a notebook where I jot down all the books I might want to check out in the future, but I don't have to be confronted with it every time I log on here.

I know I know. So many "good" books on my tbr pile. But is desperately need something cozy, and this is the only cozy series that I actually like. And maybe it's not even cozy, I haven't seen it described like that anywhere. But I find it so relaxing.
