The story is charming enough, but omg how do people read these translations? It's so bad the text doesn't even make sense! I just read "no era mas que una buena deportista" (for "she was nothing if not a good sport") and "volvería corriendo a sus colinas" (for "he'd run for the hills") in the same paragraph and I don't know if I can do this.

Just something silly I picked up because librarians. I'm already irritated because all the guys are SO BIG AND STRONG. One of them is a literal lumberjack. What keeps me reading so far is that the book at the center of the love story/mystery is "Tropic of Cancer" which is - different. We'll see.

Nahret Excuse me, what? Are you telling me the translator cannot tell when they come across an idiom?

Anna I suspect there is no translator. Just AI and a cursory glance by an intern, more likely. And it's a pity, because it's charming and heartwarming and occasionally even surprising. (But not so much I'm tempted to go buy it in English).
