A new (2005) Westlake Dortmund novella, “Walking Around Money” — is good

The writing is astonishingly fresh and clever! The book (published in 1913) opens with an episode modeled on the Panic of 1907… this looks like a gem

I’m surprised at how many people not only on Goodreads, but also on the logs, have a very mediocre view of Rex Stout. I too have been put off till now to picking up this series. But now that I have, I think that this book (the very first Nero Wolfe in the series) is utterly brilliant.

My next audible

Reread (on audible this time). The narration is weird — but the story oddly still works…
