Still so good. One of my favorite things is to simply have deep conversation and this book brings that about with each and every question, and I get to do it with one of my favorite people!

So far so great. Exactly the kind of questions that should be laid out and talked through during discernment

101 Questions to Ask Before You Get Engaged

Holy mid life crisis dawg. I really hope this gets better real quick; it reeks of nostalgia and picking the wrong major in college.

But seriously, does every man have to “go out to the isolated west” and wrangle bears? Is there no adventure in pursuing a deep, engaged spiritual life in the ordinary?

I’m curious if he talks about a man’s need for community and how that fits into the rest of his points

I really enjoy this book so far. It is very simple, but comes from an obviously place of love, and even though it is about a relatively difficult topic, it just seems to have joy mixed with its ink. The author so clearly knows the struggle of disordered, excessive anxiety and is just so excited to share how she was able to learn about it and find healing. Excited for the rest of it

“Instead of possibilities, I have realities in my past, not only the reality of work done and of love loved, but of sufferings bravely suffered. These sufferings are even the things of which I am most proud, though these are things which cannot inspire envy”
Best quote of the book so far

While reading, I genuinely see it more as rereading a text I’m already well versed in simply because of how much Kieran has talked about it

I finally got to the part about what it looks like to live the radical Gospel call to poverty in married life. Now I gotta go read about St Thomas More 🤷‍♂️

My NIECE just added me as a friend on this app. And she has TWICE the amount of books read, from this year alone compared to my all time(ish). Like I remember when you were born girl

This book is a bit on the basic side but great. After going through Interior Freedom, Story of a Soul (🤗), and currently going through Humanae Vitae, it is a welcome change of pace. Both the Swaffords are so real and they have a perfect balance of being upfront but understanding, which can be hard to come by. Excited for the last bit of this book

Hearing stories of their trip with students to Florence and JPII’s ‘Srodowisko’, just reminds me how blessed I am to have all my SP friends.
“It is friendship that is anchored by a common pursuit of a transcendent good, enhanced and illuminated by the light of faith, walking together with mission and purpose, supporting one another along the way, and having a great time together, full of laughter and joy”

St. Thérèse is the best. Her words have changed the way I think about prayer and my relationship with Jesus.

Also, Louis sets such an example as he is saddened in learning he has to give another daughter to our Lord, but is as adamant as she is when in pursuit of permission to join the Carmelites. I can clearly see where Thérèse got her deep desire to follow God’s will from. St. Louis Martin pray for us!

(This character limit on updates is so annoying)

Thérèse’s reverence and preparation for her first Holy Communion makes me wish I could go back and prepare even a hundredth as well as she did. However, it’s no use to wish on the past but I can only ask that she pray for me now and that I can grow in love of our Lord and His will.

I’ve already teared up and/or cried a half dozen times. St Thérèse describing her relationship with her Mother, sister Céline, and her Father and how she was as a child so filled with the Spirit and deep love of Christ is so so so so so beautiful and puts the biggest smile on my face. Especially her describing moments with her Father and how he calls her his “Little Queen” What more could a man want 😭
