This book is just hilarious. I'm loving this re-read but apparently I can't read too much from it in a day before my brain stops paying attention.

This book is just such a lovely surprise. I heard so many mixed opinions on McGuire + I didn't enjoy the short-stories I read by her so I fully didn't expect to enjoy her work, but this is just lovely!

This book is really making me wonder how it's going to use all of the pages that we still have left! But I am loving the writing style so it's not like I'm mad about there being more.

For last couple years I'm reading very female centric and/or queer stuff that this is kind of shocking me with the manliness and with how unironic some of the tropes are (speaking about the love interest here... mostly.) but I am not like bothered by it? I think it's done in a way that... the stuff that's WRONG is wrong on purpose and you should be able to tell as a reader? But it is a bit titillating as well.

Hmm, I think I'm not liking this as much as the first one? But it could also be the different medium. I thought I would speed through this and it's not happening.

I went into this a bit uncertain because I didn't enjoy the short-stories I read by Seanan McGuire but this is SO working for me so far! Would recommend it you are looking for something with folk ghost stories vibes.

I think this is a case of "I care too much about the historical figures this fictionalises and have too many opinions as a result" It's just... last year I read a book that is set about 20 years before this one and there is character overlap and I can't deal with this version of them because I have a different version of them in my head...?

I am so confused... I just need to know what is going on! Is he dead is he alive? Also, this is a BR with a schedule, so I can't read on and it might be killing me just a little bit. (I still can read three more chapters to be fully caught up, but... I kind of want to avoid the situation of not having more to read, because I might just go completely of the rails then.

Love the scene where Emma disagrees with Mr Knighley almost purely for the sake of disagreement (because she enjoys arguing with him) BUT by the end of this discussion she is like: we shall never agree about him when in fact they do indeed agree about him, she just kind of lost sight of that...

Mr John Knightley (=Isabella's husband) is such lovely character, glad to find that I'm still loving him on this re-read. Also the fact that he's at Harfield for like five minutes and he sees what Emma is completely oblivious toward 😂

I also love how both Knighley brothers are good with children, really the sexiest feature in a man 😂

I have to say I'm curious what this whole book will be about because Lady Audley's Secret does seem to be obvious. ...? I think. But I am really enjoying the writing and just *gestures wildly* I don't know, this book is really compelling for some reason and I do enjoy the characters a lot. I feel like this is what I wanted The Woman in White to be? In some aspects at least.
