DNF - tried to listen to audiobook and I just don’t like audiobooks. Will try again with actual copy.

Who is gonna take Nora’s copy next?

Omigod my hometown has been mentioned

Okay whoah…picked this book up on my lunch break and now I’m raging at the authors. I wanted to educate myself on rural political and economic issues but just one chapter in it’s clear this book is supposed to make east coast liberals feel comfortable in their classism rather than provide urban Americans with any sort of empathetic perspective. AND ITS SHAM RESEARCH!

This translation does not feel translated? In desperate need of footnotes

Think I may dnf…the story/messaging is great but trying to read the prose is a nightmare. The writer was Ukrainian and wrote it in Portuguese and I’m obvi reading the English translation. TLDR: Stuff is definitely getting lost in translation.
