Ok so the dialogue does still suck and it does still feel like the author wants us to know how smart he is buttttt it’s also kinda cool

Extremely annoying dialogue, it’s giving 21-year old wannabe musician daydream fantasy while also exhibiting the writer’s aspirations of being a cultural intellectual. BUT I do wanna keep reading so at least the ideas are intriguing.

That moment when the audiobook narrator shows too much enthusiasm in acting out an outdated racist stereotype in a 1851 novel about whale hunting amirite?
