And this, right here, is my problem with Romantasy: I would really love more world building and political intrigue, like Azrael's POV, but we get stuck on the romance... Other than that the story is faszinating so far.

I still really love Stephen and Elizabeth, and Joyce and Ibrahim are a delight to hear from. This being said, the pairing most everyone up and all that sex/relationship talk, is too much for me.

So far not good. (Might be my brain function affected by a cold)

This book is already so much better than book 1! First of, Ibrahim is amazing, and ofc I love Elizabeth and Stephen... and listening to Joyce's joy in everything is making my world a happier place as well.

Watched the Netflix movie first. The book is so far so good, yet the movie starring Helen Mirren will always have that advantage.

I adore Seargant Richard Cuff, but I bet Sherlock Holmes would disagree, that he is the best detective in England.

Someone take away this man [Gabriel Betteredge]'s pen! Or I will and stab him with it! In order not(!) to read another aggravating sentence of his view on the women in the house and his conduct concerning female individuals. It's disgusting!

Sadly a dnf. Before the time-jump a 3.5 stars. I don't care for the twist at all! [Spoilers] The doctor gone and the aunt back to her old, miserable self, is just too heartbreaking.

What the f***ing hell kinda time-jump is that? Are you kidding me?

So glad to have Polly and her husband home with Pollyanna. I've missed them; even so the Boston episode was very entertaining.

That last Ruth chapter might have scarred me for life. I need a break from this book.

Very atmospheric, classic haunted house setup. The Asylum, the House and The Diary are well chosen and the scenes are eerie and funny in equal measure.
