Pick up City of Iron and Ivy from debut author Thomas Kent West. I'm already loving this murder mystery; a gothic undertone (adjacent to Adalyn Grace's Belladonna). He uses a more sinister application of botany, unlike anything I've heard of ~ in a Victorian regency era of London with undercurrents of liberation and self-agency.
The audiobook is truly gripping!

Honestly, if I can manage to make my way through the page count, I have to find out what the author does with this plot. I'm equally frustrated and intrigued. The pacing is tough, but the atmosphere is real.

This has been a fun story ~ good for escape game and reality TV show enthusiasts with a YA murder-mystery twist for an added layer of suspense

I'm entertained but not very compelled to keep picking this up... should I keep going or dnf

i showed up for the satirical & dark humor filled ~game show~ LitRPG
but I'm staying for the epic narrator, princess donut banter, and all the crazy shit Matt Dinniman comes up with

"Do not let memory chase vou. Take the advice of one who has dissected the beast, then rebuilt it with a more fearsome face. Which I then used to charm a few extra coins out of an inebriated audience. Enjoy memories. Yes. But don't be a slave to who you wish you once had been. Those memories aren't alive. You are."

This is a complex and interesting one... The themes in this YA novel are heavy. The character study here feels psychologically layered and somber. The vibe alone is a trigger warning in itself. The narrator is pleasantly fitting for the role. Thank You @macmillan.audio and @netgalley for the audiobook of Every Exquisite Thing by Laura Steven .
i think some books aren’t meant to be rated, only lived through.
