It’s astonishing how this book manages to become even more grim with each page.

This book has a great tone and feels sharply written. Perfect for new-adult romantic fantasy readers with a liking for angel vs. demon, but the FMC reads much younger than I was expecting.

I appreciate what Penn Cole is doing here, but this is a loooooong book

My aching heart..

While i had a hard time adjusting to the vibe of the male narrator this time ~ I have to say, Amanda Dolan has never sounded better. My head is back in the story!

I can't make sense of the audio. I have to solely eyeball-read this

Have I said that this Sleepy Hollow retelling is erotica? Because it is.

I'm only 15% into this selection from my "traveling book" book club. So far (and thankfully), it's full of pushback from our FMC, Lady Trent, as she navigates her own maniacal curiosity to learn and her thirst for adventure while surrounded by misogyny and everyone telling her how to "be a lady." The writing is dense and scholarly, but the tone is quite cheeky and humorous.

Witches + Sleepy Hollow + dark academia + a very complicated love triangle. Kat Van Tassel was meant to marry her best friend, Brom Bones, until he vanished from their witchy village of Sleepy Hollow. Years later, he returns as a darker version of himself. With a hazy memory, he finds himself tangled in a web of passion and lies between his former lover, Kat & Professor Ichabod Crane.

This story is DENSE; high concept fantasy heist, mysterious magic +artifacts, and a lovable cast of misfits. Totally teleported each time I pick it up!

Pick up City of Iron and Ivy from debut author Thomas Kent West. I'm already loving this murder mystery; a gothic undertone (adjacent to Adalyn Grace's Belladonna). He uses a more sinister application of botany, unlike anything I've heard of ~ in a Victorian regency era of London with undercurrents of liberation and self-agency.
The audiobook is truly gripping!

Honestly, if I can manage to make my way through the page count, I have to find out what the author does with this plot. I'm equally frustrated and intrigued. The pacing is tough, but the atmosphere is real.
