With more than half of this still in front of me, it’s possible that Tevis will find a way to redeem this story into to something I find merit in. That would be one hell of a turnaround and save. This has so far been an abysmally stupid novel.

The “science” part of the science fiction is preposterous and the “fiction” part is no great shakes either.

Why I've started another book when I have so many in process, I don't know. But I've been listening again to Gladwell's "Revisionist History" podcast series in which he pimps this book pretty hard, so curiosity got the better of me and here I am.

I am on a reread of this and determined to finish it. I've not yet caught up with how far I apparently got in my earlier attempt.

The guy kind of gets lost in his own sauce and neglects to remind us why all of these twists and turns of quantum mechanics are fascinating or have some impact or on our day to day lives. What was initially interesting starts to become drudgery.

I am going to slog through this to the finish, but right now it's uninspiring hack work that strives to be funny and consistently fails.
