With more than half of this still in front of me, it’s possible that Tevis will find a way to redeem this story into to something I find merit in. That would be one hell of a turnaround and save. This has so far been an abysmally stupid novel.

The “science” part of the science fiction is preposterous and the “fiction” part is no great shakes either.
