Ria is starting A Well-Trained Wife: My Escape from Christian Patriarchy
I picked this up after listening to the author tell her story on a podcast and I really do look forward to reading it, but I’m putting it down for now because psychologically I’m not in a place where I can continue. I would still recommend people check this out and look forward to reading it when I feel ready.

Excellent so far. I’m not an audiobook person most of the time but have a big stack of Audible credits because I keep forgetting to cancel, and I’d heard nothing but great things about the audiobook. It has not disappointed so far!

Stopping this at 30% - loving the content and interviews, but wishing it were more structured, which would make it much easier to follow. I’ll likely pick it up again in the future.

DNF'd at 20% - the miscommunication trope was a little too simple, too early, and too relentless. So many other positives though - maybe I'll pick it back up at another time.

I feel obligated to like this and I love the writing style but am having a hard time with just how terrible the MCs are at communicating - the premise of the conflict seems way too flimsy for 350 pages.

DNF 20%ish - the premise and setting are everything I should love and I just can’t get into it.

I love this cover and the premise of the story but…it’s not hitting.

I love a Hill House retelling. So far I’m not terribly into this one, though. Aside from Stevie, I don’t care that much for the characters. They feel shallow, aside from the side characters from Hillsdale that know a lot more about the house. Hopefully they become more prevalent!

This is pretty classic "best friend's little sister grown up." I feel like we don't get a lot of real western settings in contemporary romance; I'm not talking small rural town but real ranch, manual labor, middle of nowhere stuff, and this series (which I've read completely out of order) does a good job at that. This book is nothing particularly amazing but it's not bad and worth finishing.

I’m really enjoying this so far and the characters are very well developed but something about this book feels really LONG - wondering if so much of what I’ve read recently is just jumpy and short, so this feels really substantial by comparison. Either way I like it and I like how Ivy writes!

This is fine but is kindof a grind, and I get the feeling much longer than it needs to be. There's also a major conflict of interest happening and a huge part of the plot seems to have disappeared?

I am really trying, but I might be DNF'ing this one. The premise is good, but the conflict was resolved in the first few chapters and the rest of the story has been the MCs loosely trying to figure themselves out and everything feels a little too easy and not very compelling. I keep literally falling asleep.
