I thought Souji would have more honor than to betray Rin, he was portrayed as such an honorable person with great principles.
Nonetheless I do get his point, who wouldn’t want a free way out if offered, they already pushed the mugenese out the south, why go through a war they had no chance at winning. But the beating was truly unnecessary, felt more of a betrayal then.

Although I have seen the movie beforehand I am still not sure the role Plutarch plays, why does he, someone from the Capitol support a revolution, he is in a relatively good position, is this pity? How many people think like him in the Capitol?

Just gone through the first 3 chapters, as far as I've gone it's low-key boring but I understand is just the introduction, although there is an insane amount of unnecessary detail going on.
