The plot potential was the only strong part about this book and theres been about three chapters where there have been no developments, just the protagonists inner monologue. I would be OK with this if the author was saying something profound or interesting but its not - its just GCSE level drivel about animal rights and astrology and I am so baffled at how critically acclaimed this book is… what am i missing??

Prefacing this by saying that I am enjoying this book and excited to see where it goes… HOWEVER! I decided to read this because it has received pretty much universal praise and acclaim (its literally won the Nobel prize for literature) and yet the writing style feels very A-level:/ Its full of metaphors and adjectives and prose but very little of it feels well-placed. I AM enjoying it, I’m just confused….

Been really excited to read this collection of short stories. I’ve just read two and one was really good and one was really bad… I’m nervous to find out which one is the anomaly ☹️

The author uses made up words and there is a dictionary at the back so you can see what they mean which is 50% annoying but 50% fun :)

Clearly wants to say something profound about grief but it has absolutely no idea what or how. Also the plot is weird and uncomfortable but not in a fun or interesting or meaningful way, and the characters are so unlikeable:/// Genuinely cba finishing it but I only have one chapter left so why not

History is so gruesome wtf they were digging up dead bodies and just pulling their heads off fr ?

50 pages left and we’re not even close to a conclusion 🤨

10/10 even tho I have no idea whats happening
