While I like the book and the incursion in the lives of Korean women, I couldn't put my finger on what kept bothering me until I read some other reviews. All the women talk in the same voice which makes it very difficult at times to know who that particular chapter is about, so you need to stop and remember all the details about every character in order to place them.

Rereading Pride and prejudice. Jane Austen cannot be equalled, her characterisation is subtle and sophisticated and she perfectly uses the free indirect style, giving the narrative a smooth flow.
