A little re read! I selected it for bookclub because of how atmospheric it is and due to some of the themes being ones we typically talk about! It’s not until October, but my home came in!

considering putting the box set on my Christmas list because I am devouring them! But the hold lines are getting to meeee

This is one of those books I started absolutely consuming with great haste, but then realized I didn’t want to leave it too soon. So, I switched to a slower pace. Sitting in the world and my own imagination and stories.

Happy to report it’s for the girlies who were Dear America Diaries readers that then fell for Jane Austen in all her glory. And I am gladly in both of those camps.

not even the chapter one but my heart. I love freya sampson. and the fact that there is a mysterious art girl with marmalade hair to start this adventure. so darling.

This is my first book by the author (I think I should have started elsewhere too far in). But, is Jacob and Briana from another book? Because that feature was so random and low key forced, but then I was like wait maybe it “makes sense” to fans?? That’s my only explanation I could come up with. Mixed feelings on this. I have moments I enjoy, but I think writing style or just wrong book to start with for me.

Enjoy the plot, like Justin, love Maddie, but had to stop for a bit because now they both are saying small over and over. Dear editor, please why didn’t you use a thesaurus. Language is vibrant and expansive, I should have taken a tally fr.

“Small” should have done a tally how many times this was used. Specifically during the sick scene.

I know people love this but so far it’s giving vapid characters with deep problems. Idk. I am hoping for more character depth. You can’t throw in trauma and trigger warnings and make the characters so simple. But, it’s early on so there is time. I’m hopeful.

wdym this ended low key horror I wasn’t ready for

I appreciate how I can see this exactly as the show depicts these characters. It’s fun to read something that isn’t an episode yet, but fully knowing it could be. Same bit of spunky humor and cozy crime. A little absurd of course, but I expect nothing else from Agatha.

Ok, a section is about kneeling your audience and I think truly it boils down to it being for an audience of women of a certain age going through “the change” and needing a bookclub book. I see its appeal for the audience and would recommend for that. As not being in the audience, it’s like, fine.

ok, so first like 4th was a 1 star for me, but I’m thinking it’s growing into a 3 star. But maybe I’m being optimistic. Here is hoping!
