This is my first book by the author (I think I should have started elsewhere too far in). But, is Jacob and Briana from another book? Because that feature was so random and low key forced, but then I was like wait maybe it “makes sense” to fans?? That’s my only explanation I could come up with. Mixed feelings on this. I have moments I enjoy, but I think writing style or just wrong book to start with for me.

Enjoy the plot, like Justin, love Maddie, but had to stop for a bit because now they both are saying small over and over. Dear editor, please why didn’t you use a thesaurus. Language is vibrant and expansive, I should have taken a tally fr.

“Small” should have done a tally how many times this was used. Specifically during the sick scene.

I know people love this but so far it’s giving vapid characters with deep problems. Idk. I am hoping for more character depth. You can’t throw in trauma and trigger warnings and make the characters so simple. But, it’s early on so there is time. I’m hopeful.
