I got off track a bit, but I am back on my goal of finishing this series by the end of the year, 6.6 books to go. A murder mystery for fall just feels right. Also this book has been different so far because there's a lot of first person flashbacks from people she's investigating, interested to see where this leads. I have my theories, but I've been wrong the past couple of books

based on the number of "WHAT?!?"s I have said out loud, I may need to walk away from this one and come back, a compelling read, just an absolute nightmare

I was excited to read this, and while I agree with some of it, i.e. like refraining from social media until a certain age, I got frustrated with his rhetoric. Women were more anxious because of their appearances only? It couldn't be because we had more access to more perspectives and information instead of just living in our little bubbles. Plus some harmful anti-trans stuff thrown in the middle there. DNF.

This book has taken me a long time to read. As a child growing up in the church in the 90s, I am just heartbroken to see the darker side of things, things us kids didn't see. I have had to walk away many times because I believe so many well meaning people had their minds twisted and were taken advantage of by "christian" messages. Ugh, it's a hard read but I am going to finish.

30 hours and 8 minutes into a 54 hour book, there is no way I am finishing this before its due back to the library. Choosing this spot after Jocasta tells her story as a good pause until I have more time to finish it.

This was easier to read when it was the past, now that we're moving into things I remember... I keep having to walk away because I am so mad.

I started this in physical book version the week I had a sinus infection and my palatal myoclonus went away. My hold is finally available for the audiobook version and I am excited because I am not capable of watching the corresponding season until I've read the book because the books are SO much better... much more daunting when you see the audiobook length tho... 54 hours. I'm 54 minutes in.

When I was a little girl, I slept over at my Aunt Maureen's house next to a bookshelf of Sue Grafton's novels and told myself I would read them when I was old enough. I think 41 is a good age to start!

It's honestly taking me a lot longer than I thought it would to read this book, because as a person with several non-apparent disabilities, it is challenging the way I think and talk about myself. I knew it would challenge me, but there are things that are harder than I expected... not when it comes to other people, but when it comes to myself. I said it before, my therapist is going to LOVE that I'm reading this.

Lucy has made me laugh out loud many times and I'm not sure what that says about me as a person. Good read, not a page turner for me, but it's a nice story with great underlying messages so far.

I am going to recommend this book to everyone I know when I'm done but dang, this is a hard read. Marking my progress everytime I had to walk away because it was too overwhelming. I just finished the chapter on urinary issues and I tapped out 3/4 of the way through Defense. What was done to women and minorities in the name of medicine and to protect white men is literal insanity, but we should all know about it
