What in the Wattpad hell is this?

I keep picking up first-person romances, and somehow end up with poorly written bully nonsense and the emotional depth of a puddle.

And can we talk about the sentence structure?

This feels so pretentious. The writing is trying so hard to be flowery and profound that I'm becoming actively aware of every sentence and their unnecessary length.

Also, the contrast between the poetic monologues and the actual characterisation is sending me.
