crazily i kinda wish we got a sex scene of shane and rose? to really get into that? me wanting smut is crazy but genuinely its out of curiosity of the dynamic
im actually highly desensitised to smut these days its kinda concerning (the ttmd;ttms impact.. fuck) (but also this book tbf)

THISSS is so interesting cos now we're on how the IDEA of tuberculosis is perceived in society and how its shaped different standards and such
its also an interesting conversation to talk about illness and how it is often othering or romanticising
AND how us as humans just NEED to attach a meaning or reason to everything because we really do

BUT ive never thought about how many humans have LIVED since we first existed like 117 billion???? and we didnt even know germs were a thing until LAST century thats insane like its all so recent and its a testament to how much technological advancements and inventions have benefitted the human race

it is so interesting to really put into perspective how modern our society is cos lol the part where he said it feels like ancient history in 1804 was so true cos wdym james watt's son existed while napoleon was emperor of france and aaron burr shot alexander hamilton... lmfao

omg guys im literally using my gcse history knowledge about medicine like hippocrates and galen mentioned ?! i know dada
and i was literally talking ab the theory of the four humours and then he actually explained it likeee
and lowkey my gcse biology stuff too cos of the white blood cell's role in the immune system and whatever
interesting stuff guys

so far this is veeery interesting
im so curious as to how tuberculosis has shaped our society as we know it today silently and i like how personalised its kinda written with the anecdotes being the reason that he looked into the facts and learnt more about tb and other countries.. stay curious!!
also i like john green so i like that im reading in the voice of someone i am familiar with lols

FINALLY starting this book!!!! ive been wanting to read this for so long omg
first non-fiction book im like choosing to read lol. it is very interesting and making me realise i should read more non-fiction - history at least cos i genuinely love history and so its quite easy to read idk what i expected

aaand maybe thats the point i mean it is called 'real life' which is definitely an important point it was definitely about 'real life' and didnt shy away from topics people struggle to discuss
it was a vulnerable book like ive been saying wallaves pov is very stark
ehhhh id rather give it like 3 and a 1/2 stars but i'll have to round it so whatever not that the rating matters all that much
im js happy this is OVER

ok deep critical psychoanalysis thinking aside i cant really tell if ive enjoyed this book like it was interesting and made me think about life and people and etc
but then as it went on i js wanted it to be over lol it felt almost repetitive even if it was different
idk i couldnt really feel an arc or development for wallace it felt like it was more to fully grasp how he thinks/lives rather than following a story

so! i finally read (and finished!!!) this book
iiii clearly dont know how to feel about it
it was a fairly easy book to read once i was actually reading it and it posed a lot of interesting questions about life and society in a very personal way
the perspective of wallace is undeniably his and i can appreciate that as well as not understand it just bc we are inherently different

idk if that was the authors choice or actually just how wallace functions lol bc there were some good lines that i liked and related to and understood and felt that they were true to life
but at a point it just felt.. almost overdone and maybe thats me just being different from wallace and not understanding another persons way of thinking or maybe it just feels ever so slightly pretentious iiidk idk

for his character i mean i dont relate to that at all
and i suppose he and miller will puzzle me forever..... both their relationship and them as individuals
he always thinks SO hard about small things in any situation morbidly or just like about life in the grand scheme of things or like his whole identity and it feels like hes never really there like in the moment yk

i... dont understand this book and like i said i was getting bored of it bc i was getting increasingly frustrated at wallace and whatever was happening
from what he said about not caring anymore after something happens and not needing to talk about it makes a lot of sense

everyone is always calling wallace selfish and i never realise that theyre lowkey right until they do so i suppose the perspective is accurate
not that ive ever understood wallace and miller but what was that fight like i got it but also not and its also just frustrating cos they communicate so much yet not at ALL
idk i understood millers feelings but also idrc
im just ready to finish this xx

i like brigit idk who she is but yesss asian girl i knew she wasnt white by how she and wallace were talking/crying together
im just a little.. confused she was saying how hard its been to be the only non white and how she'll always be looked down on and wallace literally relates but he was just like im sorry

and everything is just so.. unfair all the time and i know thats the point but this far into the book maybe i was just wrong for assuming there was gonna be some gratification or messages or whatever idk
like i get that thats also the point that this constant subtle and not so subtle injustice is there all the time that its 'real life' but then what
that also doesnt change the fact that im bored lol

he actually cant catch a break like im sick
idek im getting bored of this book like i said like i was vaguely into it for ages and now im just tryna get it over w LOL
