(Continued) a similar process with their guide in order to discover why they ended their life early before having the chance to better themselves.

What I’ve learned so far: souls have senses, they can bear trauma, guides regenerate displaced souls, judgment is not existent in the spirit world. The displaced soul (a soul that performed evil on earth) does not get condemned by their guide/director rather is guided to realize their wrongdoing, have accountability & relive the suffering they inflicted on others. Bodies that passed from suicide go through

An eye opening look towards the super-conscious of human souls. The current discoveries of the first 5 cases of souls have found that (1) souls reach a bright light after death (2) surveille their physical bodies after death and enter a different dimension after burial (3) senses remain after death (4) adjustments to the spirit world depends on the comfort of the soul. So many discoveries yet to come!

He meets Lolita and the description of his desperation is horrible. I still can’t wrap my head around the significance of this book, it’s just wrong.

The man is justifying his pedophilia because he lost his first love when he was young so now he’s searching for that same craving 24 years later? Strange to read a novel under this perspective and it’s even stranger that such a story is permitted to be narrated..

The normal African is a lobotomized European. Fanon was a moving activist philosopher to read, his aspirations in mobilizing an entire subordinated continent to break the from the noose of Europe is beyond his time; it is beyond current time.

It’s saddening to realize that the same stories being read about someone’s history is being experienced by many around the world; yet not being able to receive the same platform for others to hear and sympathize alike to myself right now.

It made me think about how extremely grateful I must be to live currently without experiencing war trauma like those in mentioned in the chapter. However, on the short hand, current civilians in multiple areas of the world (gaza, Lebanon, Ethiopia, Congo, Sudan, China etc) are suffering similar troubles as those in the book.

The chapter, colonial wars and mental disorders, is extremely engaging. The first hand experience of fanon’s psychiatry clinic in delivering guidance to troubled victims and participants of the Algerian-French war speaks outside of the pages to touch the emotions of the reader directly. After reading series A, the few stories told shattered my heart after understanding the trauma endured by many living in the war

I don’t even know where to begin after Jude’s attempt, his relationship with his body and willem is going train wreck. That’s irrelevant to what is brewing in my head; Dr Taylor??? I feel as though out of the 600 current pages this storyline is the most terrifying. The idea behind Jude purposely engaging in prostitution to make ends meet just because that is all he has established throughout his childhood..

So Jude’s suicide attempt was unsuccessful and now he’s facing the consequence of rehabilitation. His relationship with Brother Luke is devastating. Jude is inert and was mentored by Brother Luke all along.. he taught him to cut himself..Jude was only 11. This book is not easy and really deserves a huge trigger warning plastered all over it.

It’s just been getting darker and darker. I’ve left with the detailed image of Jude ending his life which really took me by surprise considering the amount of time he’s yearned to commit. What Caleb did to him broke me entirely and now learning slowly about Brother Luke, his storyline is beginning to make some sense. I just feel bad not only for Jude but for the other figures in his life. Depression is evil.

x=x 😭😭 i am again taken back by yanagihara’s writing but THIS IS BREAKING ME
the axiom of equality instates that jude will forever rest his dehumanized form no matter how much his life changes for the good, “hell always inspire disgust and meant to be hated”. i need jude to escape caleb but not just that he needs to regain a sense of hope before it’s too late. he has outlets like harold and willem

within the axiom of equality, the boys have jumped to their 4th decade, revisiting their progress in life. the ending with jb’s huge craze undergoing his withdrawal to now following the boys—especially jude— to see change but not much.. this book is slowly coming together and i don’t appreciate what i have pictured for its fate.. IM SO SCARED

UNWRAP THIS WITH ME — jumping ahead i just learned that jude was a prostitute when he was younger oh my god, with every sentence i come close to understanding and empathize with jude’s strangeness and abnormalities. we get his physical disability but his psychological traumatic experiences speak for their own. understanding that 1) he’s a victim of SA and now 2) had to engage with older men to survive.. wow

JB’s fallen through—addicted to meth and coke— , Jude is still self destructing, Malcolm seems okay for (married) and Willem is making it big time in the film industry, lost in understanding his place with his friends and why he longs Jude. JB needs serious help but don’t they all? I feel as though these 4 cannot survive without each others company even when JB resented them during their close friendship.

The back and forth play between Willem and Jude’s narratives make so much sense now. Willem talks about feigning for Jude’s dependency, he wants to present a safe ground for Jude to be able to come to him with anything and not hold back — which is Jude’s paradox. Jude is a wall within himself, he can’t bare burden anyone not even the ones who crave the burden. The hard part, they both can’t tell.

Jude is very mentally ill—pg 239 when he says that he will challenge harold & julia to hate him so that he can pin the blame on himself if they ever decide to be done with him? that’s mental. slowly and slowly i start to understand Jude’s struggle with depression but his dependency on willem is also unpleasant. i hope jude finds himself in a better spot but for now im starting to think he’s losing hope :(

why is jude the main centre now that section 2 started? i kinda miss the storyline with the squad but understanding jude’s background is equally important because im guessing he’s the main attention for the plot. when i started reading the postman the style of writing was enjoyable in which the yanaghara narrates the story without disclosing who she’s talking about. it’s interesting and keeps you going 🙈
