Skipped the time after Solomon , the division of kingdom , the exiles, return & diaspora . To get me some Jesus in

So I skipped a 3rd of the book roughly 600 pages

Listen to Solomon wisdom trials.

I appreciate how gives both version of how mathematically should be and also the reality of it don’t always go that way.

Also a good evidence of how to focus on heavenly verses worldly, he used all hood wisdom and negotiation to create peace on earth just to have all the treaties tear him and the nation apart. Wise thoughts for a nation like our that is becoming over pc

Skipping much of psalms of David

Solomon becomes king

David and Goliath

Rise & fall of Saul

Such good reminders of how easy it is to fall into temptation of self boasting.

And how easy it is to try lead by force & not compassion.

How easy is it to want to appear good among others even so much that we ask those who we know are doing right to support us.

Eli was a judge of the nation but yet he allowed his sons to corrupt the positions of priesthood.

They even try to manipulate the ark and win a battle by force when indeed it cost them their lives and even Eli became glutinous and fell when he heard the news of his son death and fell and broke his neck.

Our lack of integrity and dealing with our problems can have other people punished.

Just as a crime left unpunished and not quickly punished can lead to a multitude of people being punished for the sin.

Most likely we do will not have thousands among thousands murdered in a war on both sides, but we can cause people to have undue hardship by not owning our mistakes. For not being truthful.

Samson

Don’t abuse your gift, and take credit for a natural gift God gives you,
Don’t manipulate situations to use a blessing as a way to boast

Know who to trust and confide in, what is there motive?

Be slow on your promises so that you don’t make rash promises that are hard to keep.

You want to maintain integrity

By not removing sin, it came back around to point judges had to get out into play to help focus attention of removing sin.

Gideon and fleece story, then going to battle kept saying we have to many men went from 20k to only 300 for a battle to be won with gods help, they blew their horns and the enemy turned on itself

Joshua and the conquering

Some tribes were more willing to take ownership and conquer the land to rid of sin. While other tribes were wanting the easy path and not destroy sin and allow the sin to live among them or to migrate to another part .

It’s a harsh reality I imagine I would struggle with as well of killing off a population to ensure area was purified of sin. It is a good reminder for us to be mindful

Crossing the Jordan River on dry ground.

As they stepped into River the water back up and the moisture left, allowing them to walk on dry ground.

Equally as memorable as crossing the Red Sea on dry ground other than the Red Sea swallowed Egypt once the Jews crossed.

The Jordan River was crossed as a promise of receiving what was promised when crossing through the Red Sea

Wear them
Mount on your house
For reminders

The details on how to worship is so nice to have had.
Rereading the 10 commandments and knowing their reference today as well as in the formation era

Also crazy to think of how many were nomads for 40 years. I can understand the insecurity of a king not wanting them to pass thru, imagine seeing a line that was 10-20 miles long line how could you not feel afraid

Balaam is an interesting read

Even though he’s a sorcer he gets to talk with God.

God gives him direction , then next day would have punished him if it wasn’t for the donkey protecting him

P 275-282 is great descriptions of a leaders

Mentally I think it’s finding the midsole pendulum , as there is a balance on everything and it helps lay out what that balance is around.
