I don't like the author.
She describes such perfection in her perfect European lifestyle growing up, that I literally thought she would end the description with "all of that was a lovely dream or wistful movie". It's as if she was clarifying that her family couldn't have caused Ted Bundy's actions, or that they were so wonderful that Ted's self-comparison could be so pale, driving his killing compulsion.
Weak.

The book is growing on me considerably. The author is developing characters well, as soon as she stopped focusing on liberal topics (Islamophobia, frats, bias).

Liberalism ruins everything.
College students are characterized as completely uncaring rubes. American college professors are characterized as anti-immigration and Islamophobes.

The author reflects the pompous elitism of folks I met in the NE with their Harvard or Vassar degree, anti-southern bias. She sounds arrogant and insecure. Having a hard time getting into the story bc of her painting of “us hicks”.

I don’t effing care if you are trans or not or gay or blah blah blah blah!!! The book is very good, but soooooooooo long. Who knows what gender you might be by the time I finish it? Oh, I don’t care!!! It’s your character that matters!!!

I am tired and am only through 75%. Such a great writer (no shit) but I’m struggling!

This author is terrific .... but there’s a tad too much sex in this novel!! Lol! So far, good character development but a little too many words .... looking forward to the ending and resolution. More to come.....

I lam fascinated by the persistence of the Farmer family to find a semblance of justice; however, the backstory was annoying. Surely a sister who lost her brother so young might view him as perfect, but this was excessive. She seems to try to persuade the reader that he didn’t deserve to be murdered just bc of his perfection. The truth - no one deserved his fate - even if he were just a blah guy. Editing needed.

I love this book ... it has a unique storyline! Unfortunately I know a detail that will likely impact the resolution, and I’m kinda bummed! It shall be fun to finish. Onwards.....

As I read this novel, I find Scott Turow writing about the atrocity of the Holocaust on one page, and then the celebration of the anti-war weenie 2 pages later. Gosh I dislike the ideology of the 1960s. I’m 1/4 in and won’t likely keep going.

Clearly Rowling is a great writer ... but this novel is tooooooooo long...... dragging a bit..... even though I love Sttike!

Three chapters into ‘ The Witch Elm’ by Tana French, and I might not sleep until I finish it. I’m going to buy the audiobook so I can keep it going while I do Sunday chores ... no idea where the novel is going, but wow, this author winds a story with such genius, and creates such depth of characters ... in only a few pages. Plus, it will eventually be a suspenseful twisty thriller, ... What a gift.

I set my reading goal very high because I count the books read with my sons. Actually, I don't count them.....they automatically show up when we borrow books from the online library and I don't feel like learning how to turn it off. So I adjust the numbers upward, and I do technically read what they read .... but I promise that I don't just sit around reading or listening to books constantly.
