Housewives in the 1950’s watched unrealistic tv shows with “perfect American families”, similar to housewives in the 2020’s watching influencers lie about their “perfect” home life on social media. Same lie, different medium. Women are sadly still measuring themselves against unrealistic standards that are rooted in a facade that does not exist anywhere.

4.5 stars- Saw this author speak at a public meeting on tiktok, then read the caption/comments and found out he was an author. He lays out a great critique of current culture in America in relation to racism, and makes the reader think about how you have lived and experienced the same things in very different ways than your neighbor. Phenomenally written, beautifully told. Will definitely be reading more from him.
