DNF for now. Too boring

The level of innocuous detail in this book is horrible. I’m going to see it through but as of right now, (4/5th done) you can skip whole pages and still follow the storyline. The chapters from the teenage brother’s perspective are written exactly the way an angry woman with a pain in the ass teenage son would write the inside of her son’s mind. It’s contrite, overwritten, and needed research.

DNF’d.

The overly detailed internal commentary from all the perspectives is exhausting. Also, why isn’t Meredith telling her husband about these ominous text messages if she’s done nothing wrong? Plot hole for way too long, makes the story feel unrealistic and makes it dragggggg along.

If you think Maas’ crescent city series is a world building masterpiece, this prequel puts it to shame. Full on sticky flags and notes to keep up type of situation. I love the intertwined but individual stories. I love the organic feel of the relationships, LGBTQ or otherwise. It’s a hard read, but I’m here for it.
