He was smiling like a fucking idiot at me.
"You rescued me," he announced and I hissed, spitting actual venom.
"I did not," I snarled

So maybe I’d gotten attached to Elise’s other guys. Maybe I missed hanging out with them all. And maybe it was time I reunited us Avengers style. It was kinda exciting. Tummy flutters and all.

“I told you, I’m not going any-fucking-where and if you suggest it again, I’ll carve my answer into your forehead,” Ryder growled.

Sometimes she looked so sad it made me want to carve out my heart and swap it with hers so I could bear her pain for her. But never around me.

“Tears don’t make you weak, my little angel,” I said and more tears fell as I called her that name like it meant something to her. “It’s brave to cry over what you’ve lost. It means you feel it, it means it meant something, and it means you don’t shy away from those emotions even when they hurt the most.”

“What are you staring at?” he snapped and my lips parted in surprise.
“I’m not entirely sure,” I replied icily. “But my best guess would be the result of a turkey mating with an asshole.”

Bro. When I say the MMC isn’t a book boyfriend, hear me out.
He is the definition of Book Husband. Case closed. No notes. I’ve barely scratched the surface. Heck, I’m not even 20 chapters in. The nurturing that happens. The caretaking. The “her before anyone else”. Ugh. It makes your heart cry. He’s dreamy. He’s terrifying. He’s the ultimate shadow daddy, without actually having shadows.🤌🏻💋

So far, I’m not as invested… we’ll see if I finish this series.
