I got to take a break from Anathema

I'm really trying to like this because the world building is cool, the characters are mostly interesting and I like the magic system in this, but it feels like every time I really start getting into it, they throw some weird shit at me

What the hell did I just read?

It's always on me because I skipped the trigger warning, but damn this was darker than I thought it was going to be

To be honest, if I wasn't so close to the end, I would dnf this but might as well get one more read in for 2025

Maybe it's just me, but like nobody is questioning why monsters keep ending up on the same ship, even if some of them were decades apart...

Alright it's growing on me

the plot is fun. monsters in space murdering humans on a spaceship and the concept of the main character being the spaceship's A.I. is unique. But it makes the action boring like beside killing their passengers like the ship is just like watching things happen and like there's not really a threat to it. Idk I'm giving it a little more, but I might dnf

It's been a hot minute since I read from a book where the main character is like my age

My last 2 books were pretty depressing, sooo I'm going cozy

I'm returning this early back to the library and putting this on pause. I can tell I'm going to love it, but december is just too busy to give it the attention it deserves. Maybe I'll check it back out in January

We'll see how this goes, not my normal type of book, but it's set in St. Augustine, so I had to check it out

My one complaint is that in the first 2 books, I found the romance being putting on the back burner to be a nice change of pace, but now, in the 3rd book, it lowkey sometimes just feel like Adam is just there like sometimes I forget he there and I feel rune doesn't care for him as much as Adam cares for them I hope that's changes.

Possible hot take, I like the sisters, except for Holly. She is so damn annoying. I hope she gets eaten

I haven't been this creeped out by a bad guy in a long time.

Yeah, nope, it should have been for me. Basically, adult Harry Potter mixed with mafia set in a fantasy world. But it was really the writing for me, it felt like YA talking about adult things. the info dumping was so bad that the info didn't feel relevant, and the plot felt all over the place. The main character is supposed to be like 27 acts like 17 and she infiltrates the bloodmoons (magical mafia) in like 3 days

You can't keep telling me your main character is smart when she keeps doing dumb shit.

It did finally start getting good. I feel like now that I'm passed the info dumping, the beginning set up, and finally to the plot, it's all coming together. I still have some gripes, but it's growing on me.

This book basically has to the end of my work day to hook me. Otherwise, I'm dnfing

Might change, but right now, it's giving au harry potter fanfiction

I'm still vibing with this. the pace is a little slow, but I'm sure once the action starts, it's going to pick up

I like the idea of this book, but I either hate or find every character annoying, so calling it quits

This was compared to like 4 things in the summary, but 2 of them were the princess bride and shrek, so I had to check it out.

Not for me, I'm sure people will love this. I picked this up because of dire wolves I left because of the bad romance and then to learn it's a love triangle. But she has a boyfriend at the beginning of the book. It feels very tropey on top of it. I quiting now because I know if I make it to the wolves, I will make myself read it soooo quitting while I'm ahead.
