Gosh those freaking tracker jackers are my worst nightmare. I forgot how gruesomely the stings are described in the book compared to what is seen in the movie.

There are so many other things I need to do right now. So many. But I’m also currently in a reading slump, so I want to read a book I think I’ll like.

This book seems like it’ll be a fun ride. It’s also going to be really wacky and weird but I’m chill with that. The premise of “stuck in the apocalypse with your ex’s cat” is just hilarious and I wanted to know more.

I did it. I finished Crime and Punishment in…six days???

It’s over double the words of a typical adult novel (~200k), even if the total page count for my copy is 542. I rushed a good portion of it because I needed to have it read by Wednesday.

I’d say there’s 3 plots (main and sub) total. All of them intersect at one point and it’s insane

I do like it, but it felt too long for a 4 star rating. 3.5 stars.

HES CONFESSED! YOURE GOING TO JAIL RASKOLNIKOV.

Also, I have found a character worse than petty ol Luzhin. Svidrigaïlov is officially the worst person in this book, hands down. Like even from a moral standpoint. Svidrigaïlov has (supposedly) murdered his wife of seven years and attempted to remarry. His new bride would have been 16. Dudes dead now though, so that won’t be happening.

there’s so much tea in this section. Probably because of Luzhin.

I dislike that man more than the actual murderer who literally admitted to killing to see whether or not he was an extraordinary person, able to be like Napoleon and kill without batting an eye.

Luzhin is worse because he is petty.

“Now you’re going to a birthday party?”
“To a funeral.”

I can’t tell if Porfiry knows or if he’s just gaslighting gatekeeping and girlbossing his way through that interview. May the remaining shreds of Raskolnikov’s sanity rest in peace.

We’ve now reached a healthy mix of Raskolnikov genuinely losing his mind, other people’s perspectives, and attempts at justifying murder.

“This is the end.”

Dude. Raskolnikov. My guy. We have over 300 pages left in this novel. This is not the end. You liar. Like I know lying comes as a default with the whole “I just committed a double homicide,” but you don’t gotta lie to yourself.

Also, there is so much drinking. Gotta love Dostoyevsky for sticking to the vibe: Vodka and sadness.

In every chapter of this book they’re either drunk, plotting murder, or murdering.

I think this is a bit more my kind of book lol

This book is more evidence that I’m not really a romance person. I can see where people might love it but it’s not really my style.

The prose is very pretty. It was a change of pace from most books even if it made reading this one a little more time consuming.

Ultimately just kind of felt meh after reading it. Maybe because I read it super fast (over 500 pages, and ~190k words read in like 10 reading sessions).

Why is Juliette hiding things in her own narration/why is there crossed out text? Is the crossed out stuff all of the things she doesn’t want to think about? Like sometimes it makes sense and sometimes it’s just a tad bit annoying. I saw it when flipping through the book and it might go away later on. But why is it there in the first place?

Anyway, Adam, why did you like immediately push the beds together? :/

Live laugh love Apollo

Camp Half Blood is so casual about the entire getting attacked thing and they’re so real for it.

I agree with Apollo. Nero is a slimy, ugly human being.

Ok but like…Nero’s totally been super abusive to Meg. Isn’t separating the “abuser” from your “loved one” a sign of abuse? I hate Nero sm

I THINK I GET IT?

Like Okonkwo was meant to represent African/Igbo culture. He flourished in it in the story. The white man kept pushing and pushing until he killed himself. He was the main proponent against European culture, and now that he’s gone, we have a good idea of what happens.

Idk there’s prolly more here, but that’s my thoughts.
