re-reading a favourite from my pre-teen years !

morning read!

the characters are bitches towards each other, yay!

picked this up from a secondhand bookstore with no prior knowledge. so much has been revealed in chapter 1. many incredulous eyebrow raises from me in such a short span of time.

my vibe machine????? has that ‘vibe’ really been around for that long?

i never know where to stand with this man.

What. I feel stupider by the minute.

this heroine is, in fact, completely stupid.

We throw away the dead; we cast them into the ground as a means to forget them, to rid ourselves of the responsibility for them.

“For so long, I’ve been numb, unable to feel anything but rage and anguish. My world had stopped spinning ages ago. I went to Slashed hoping to die at the end of the night, to be set free from the misery dragging me down. Then, I saw you, and I felt for the first time in years. The world started moving again.”

it’s really not that serious. you guys just had sex. calm the fuck down.

“Did you just fucking stab me?!” he shouts, grunting in pain.
“You broke into my house five days after your murder spree. What did you expect? I thought you were trying to murder me!” I yell back, louder than I intended to.

okay this was funny.

All I have left is delusion because hope isn’t enough to help me survive.

she’s referred to herself as delusional for five times now (i counted) and frankly, i find it insensitive, as someone who intermittently lapses into psychotic episodes. the bigger issue though is that it’s fucking annoying, because that’s not how ‘delusions’ work. she’s just fucking stupid. hope this helps!

i wasn’t expecting a prolific literary masterpiece in the first place, but somehow i’m possessed by disappointment. maybe this genre just isn’t for me. it’s pornographic without the eroticism, overtly sexual without intimacy.

also, how am i supposed to take him seriously? she refers to him as ‘silver mask’ in the narration. be for fucking real.
