I've been reading this book on and off (mostly off) since I marked this read. But since I've started watching ばけばけ「The Ghost Writer's Wife」, I got the itch to give continue with giving this a proper read.

I'm mad at myself for tapping out where I did last year. Apparently I was so close to when things really pick up.

I'm enjoying this so much more the second time around. I think it's because I've since learned that with PFH's books, you need to gauge when to set them aside and give yourself a break for a day or two.

Really good so far. Although it is making me regret a little reading this book way out of chronological order with the series lol

Ope, now I'm hooked again.

I feel like the first 300 pages of this book were super interesting to me, but it's kinda fallen off at this point. Find my eyes glazing over as I read more and more.

I still really have absolutely no idea what is going on in this book. I don't know what the main bad entities are supposed to be. I know it is kinda PFH's thing, but is really feels like there is too much going on in this book.

I can't believe I forgot this book came out last year. This is just what I needed to break my SciFi slump. Alastair Reynolds always delivers. ❤️

Conceptually, this book is super interesting. However, reading it is a bit of a slog. It bounces around a lot, and nothing happens long enough for me to care about it. Very close to DNF'ing, which is incredibly frustrating to me because I really want to like these Culture books. But they just aren't grabbing me.
