I'm listening to the audiobook and would be okay if I never heard the name Lance Bass again 😂 it's cute so far though overall.

She got a $500,000(!!!!) deal and her publisher is shockingly thrilled she lands the #1 spot? I imagine they would have been pissed if she didn't for that kind of cheddar.

This reads much more like an autobiography than a memoir with a story. And at 25% of the way through, so far it has all been telling, no showing and no emotional depth to draw the reader in.

My moral compass is spinning out of control.

This author REALLY hates the word "and"

There goes Emily Henry again, kicking me in all the feels in this season of life of having to start over and make friends as an adult.

Dean is so hard to root for as a love interest. He’s such the stereotypical egotistical jock.

I still haven’t found a connection between the two major story plots yet, leaving the novel overall feeling disjointed as we jump back and forth.

It’s a fun listen so far but there’s inherently no conflict because they both want the same thing, so that gets old pretty quick and makes it hard to find tension in the scenes.

I like the fresh take on the undead/zombie premise, but all the stalking is getting really creepy.

It’s been bugging me this entire time: they are in the Keys. How in the world do they not have A/C!?!? No sane person in Florida has a house with air conditioning. That place would be a mold palace.

The dual timeline and dual POV narrative is a little much but it’s so refreshing to read a dual-POV romance where the male MC can think about more than just how hot the female MC is.

I actually liked the voice at first, but the science jokes became overkill and too forced and the voice reminds me of Andy Weir in The Martian - something about it I just can’t stomach. I think it’s hard to buy into a contemporary fiction with a romance subplot when the MC seems to detest men and certain characteristics the love interest has so much.

Tenure track a YEAR after getting her PhD? Is that even possible?

I’m starting to realize why some agents have strict “do not send me tattooed ‘bad guy’ love interest stories” restrictions. The stereotype definitely gets old quick with the latest books I’ve been reading.

As someone currently trying to get an autoimmune disease under control, her “controlling” her RA but getting high and feeding her munchies with a bunch of super processed, highly inflammatory foods makes zero sense for pain management.

I’m pretty sure she’s setting up for another big twist here though and while it could have worked if she revealed it here, it doesn’t work since she decides to carry it on. Too unbelievable that Sadie can’t put 2&2 together.

This might be one of my favorite twists in reveals ever 🤣🤣🤣

This book seems to put a lot of the relationship responsibility on secure types versus giving practical advice to anxious and avoidant personalities on how to become secure instead of relying on a secure person to be an anchor.

Half chapter flashbacks/infodumps, a new POV not introduced until Chapter 14. This book is one that breaks the rules without intention and it shows in the narrative.

DNF. Nothing about this read reads plausible enough for me to believe it could be a true story. I loved the premise as it’s actually very similar to a story idea I have, but after more than 50% through, the execution can’t keep me invested.

Oh my goodness! So many exclamation points!! Why?!?!

Struggling with the dialogue and the pacing. A lot of exposition without much action driving the external plot.

This book feels like it’s somehow written for middle grade (with it’s random exclamation points!) and literary readers (with random descriptions that wander on without adding to the plot) and erotic readers (did we really need to know he dries the “fire of red hair between her legs”? No, we did not). The voice is all over the place. It makes no sense.

For an epic boss battle with a dragon, the opening pacing is so slow and bogged down with backstory.

I thought Spare was going to be a memoir, but there’s no central focus/theme. He jumps around to all aspects of his life like an autobiography, which makes it harder to settle into the story.

Also, am I the only one who finds it uncomfortable to listen to someone in that late thirties refer to their “mommy” over and over again?
