Amazing story so far. I love how the main female character is not described as the fairest in the land. It makes her more realistic. And adding a blemish in a time period that prioritized women’s physical appearance over their mind was a nice touch. Then, include a male lead character who originally is seeking a woman of physical beauty, and you’ve got a page turner. Absolutely loving this book so far.

Who to trust?! Every couple of chapter the Author is misdirecting the reader then changing direction again. The web she’s spinning is intricate and extremely intriguing.
Is he the hero or the villain? Every time you think you know, Sandra Brown throws you a curve. I love it!

Chapter 21 is all too real. It captures grief and devastation well enough to remind you what a broken heart can feel like. I almost wish it hadn’t been written.

Good start.

New alliances could be just the breakthrough they’ve been waiting for.
Chaka death was a grave loss but could lead to the reconciliation between Fred and Sally.
And poor Jim’s heartbreak…

Poor Chaka, the author knows how to strike a blow straight to the heart. And poor Jim, a love that can never be.
Will Sally finally be willing to open her heart to Freddy? And will Isabel be alright?

This 3rd book started out dull. But I’m glad I kept reading because it’s gotten better. A doctor and a justice obsessed rogue cop on the run looking for the evidence they need is pretty intriguing.

So far “Deadly Isle” by Dani Pettrey is my favorite out of the 3 books.

They caught him but is it only him. And where is Julia’s body?

Loosely inspired by Robin Hood. A bet. Who would survive the other’s lifestyle better. The truth of her identity.
Beautiful how he learned her and what pleased her.

I knew it! I’d guessed who the magician’s father was. And I suspect, I know part of why Bellmann wants him dead. A least part.
Sad what happened to Nellie though.

The magician still missing. A forced marriage. Jim love sick. What’s next?

A man who knows people’s darkest secrets and uses it to control them. Sounds familiar. It’s a similar theme as in first book. Where did the magician disappear to? Bellmann definitely has other motives for wanting to marry Mary, probably to do with the graphite mines.
