I knew it! I’d guessed who the magician’s father was. And I suspect, I know part of why Bellmann wants him dead. A least part.

A man who knows people’s darkest secrets and uses it to control them. Sounds familiar. It’s a similar theme as in first book. Where did the magician disappear to? Bellmann definitely has other motives for wanting to marry Mary, probably to do with the graphite mines.

Freddy and Jim’s fight was very well written. It had me hold my breath for a minute. I love how it the story switch back and forth through viewpoint, sometimes leaving her hanging. It keeps it interesting. Sally’s finally discovered the truth of her nightmare and it wasn’t quite was I was expecting. Holland wasn’t why I was expecting.

Tens and Callen seem like they have an interesting history together.

The 2nd book in here, is already much more interesting by that the front one. It captures my attention in the first paragraph.

Bedwell finally explaining some things about the 7 Blessing and her father’s death. And how Holland must have learned the information she using to blackmail Shelby with.

Still very interesting. The mystery just keeps growing. What is Sally remembering? What does Bedwell know but can’t remember? What was it that Bedwell needed to tell Sally? How did Holland discover all she knows? What does Shelby have to do with Sally’s father’s death and why is Holland blackmailing him? Is Adelaide safe with them?

Not sure how I feel about the ending. The t was very open ended in two different ways which isn’t necessarily bad but just not for me. I would have rather the case be resolved and closed. And I would have liked a little more of Janelle and Greg’s growth after the case was resolved. Just seems like they needed one more chapter after the epilogue. An epilogue for the epilogue.

The main character knew more than she was letting on. So what will this new information reveal about the case?

Glad I went back a read the 1st book, first. It brings a lot into perspective. It explains how she meant 2 of the main character in the 2nd book.

The book had an excellent opening which hooked me from the first page. Although its cliffhanger aren’t quite to the level of Frank Peretti. I was able to put the book down before starting chapter 3. But I am still intrigued.

I like how it breaks into 3 different side stories that you know are all connected but you just don’t know how yet. It leaves your brain hanging on every detail waiting to be able to put the puzzle pieces together.

Wish I would have started reading this series sooner. It it quite intriguing. It has a Nancy Drew meets the Daughter of Sherlock Holmes feel to it. Readers of Enola Holmes would probably enjoy this series.

Excellent so far. Doesn’t focus on unnecessary flowery details. Feeds you information at a good pace without rushing into the mystery or needlessly dragging it out. The pace is perfect. I’m hooked.
