Kind of knew a lot of this info already. This goes into a ton more depth on the topic of the monopolistic behemoths that truly run the world.

This is just so much easier for me to read than fiction. Stories over text don’t resonate with me. Everything about non-fiction just hits so much better and I am not sure why. Right now this is talking about sentience and the arguments that an LLM can make for its own sentience, even as of 2 years ago. Pretty fascinating stuff.

The author made a really interesting point in the latest chapter I read. I think it’s chapter 1. He described how the stage of AI that we are at right now, or were as of 2 years ago when this book was written, is akin to the time when the US was actively working on the Manhattan project. People didn’t really understand the full implications of what they were creating. Money, competition, and egos drove all effort

No idea what just happened in that chapter. Need this book to be done😭

One of the few chapters I’ve enjoyed, or even understood, thus far. Really interesting depiction of the martians, their behaviors, psychology, and anatomy.

I have no idea what’s happening. Just got to “book 2”. The martians are fucking them up I think and they left London to get on a boat and try to guck up the martians from there. I could be super far off though. I am interpreting very little of what is happening. Excited for this to be over.
