I really don’t like the attitude of some of the Stalker Force Members.Sure the Garuda and Naga would have died anyways by the Utahraptors but they didn’t have to make the suffering worse, especially after they called a truce.

I wonder if we’ll hear about Nagarjuna and his son again, I would like to.They got incredibly lucky.

I like Phurong a lot to be honest, I think she’s good for Nguyen. I hope they live

I’m glad that Nguyen has found someone he can trust and turn to. I had enough of him being abused in the last book and it’s nice to see him have some semblance of happiness. Is what I would say if he wasn’t a complete asshole. Wtf is he doing treating her like that? What has he become? Honestly she’s right and I’m glad she said that to him. Like why is he being so toxic?

I think what separates Xipetotec from the other raptor antagonists is that we see him make associations between things and learn. In reading his backstory, you can kinda sympathise with him because he’s not killing for the sake of it, he’s killing to sustain his colony. I particularly liked that he spared Zawygi, being intelligent like this makes his character more scary. Kinda makes him unpredictable

I have decided to restart the book as I felt as if maybe I’d missed something? Or maybe the writing was just bad…

Anyways, I enjoyed reading about Xipetotec. For some reason his personality and intelligence seems more realistic than Sobek’s.

I still don’t get why there was 4 different raptors in the Stupa? Kinda weird but other than that, the story is reading smoothly. Hopefully it continues that way

I enjoyed these chapters a bit more than the last ones but I’m still getting lost between the constant location and time skips. I understand where Pettus is coming from and what he’s trying to do but it doesn’t translate well.

Again I feel as if a lot of the cultural beliefs, deities/gods and building names aren’t being described well enough, leading to confusion and a less smooth reading experience.

I enjoyed reading about Xipetotec and the migration of his colony. I’m liking him more than Sobek, I feel like he’s more intelligent and kinda logical

But also wtf did I just read. Why is Nguyen acting like this tf? He is genuinely crazy. What is even going on with him and Phuong Hoang? Their relationship is horrible. Reading this last chapter was actual painful. I was cringing so much, like what is going on?

Well, I don’t know what to think so far. The story keeps jumping forward and cutting between different scenes so it’s kinda confusing. Also, idk if it’s just me, but the basic descriptions of Glooscap and Malsumis confused me when Xavier began to talk more about them. Also why haven’t we heard of this belief before? Especially if it’s so important to Xavier.

I do quite like the drawings though

I did not enjoy the past 2 chapters of the book. That whole thing with Molnar and those random grunts was just so out of place. It cringed me out the way Molnar was acting.

The chapter on Syd was also quite uninteresting. I understand what Pettus was trying to say but Syd the Lenny sounds so stupid. I didn’t feel bad for him at all to be honest

I guess these were just really bad filler chapters or something

I find it interesting how smart Sobek is. The way he keeps trapping Stalker Force is cool but I feel like he’s being too anthropomorphised.

I thought it was kinda weird that the Bull Triceratops wanted to eat the Cryolophosaurus. Triceratops must have occasionally eaten meat, if necessary, but I wouldn’t go as far as to say they’re omnivores. Regardless, the fight was quite cool and fun to read about

Why is everyone so rude to Andrei. I thought it was established that he’s there to help but they still treat him like an enemy. It’s frustrating

I absolutely HATE that Eli is back. How is he even more insufferable than he was before. I thought that he’d mature a bit but no, he hasn’t.He’s sober but I hate him more. Also where did his random accent come from. It certainly wasn’t there in the first book

It’s so cool that Pettus decided to include Yutyrannus. I don’t really know much about their behaviour but the descriptions were so cool. Finally there’s a dinosaur that can take on the Utahraptors.

I’m loving the inclusion of Parasaurs and Amargasaurus too but I wish we knew how they came to Vietnam. I guess we’re meant to assume they came through the wormholes too? Also why is everyone mean to Andrei?

Man I HATE the Hyenas. I’m glad Scarecrow and the other dude died lol. Why are they treating Nguyen like that, he’s part of their team. Honestly brainless people. I hope he joins Stalker Force or just leaves the army

I’m really enjoying the Quetzal plot line, I really like pterosaurs. The setting description coupled with the dinosaurs makes it so easy for me to be immersed. Pettus is doing a great job

I’m enjoying this so far. I love ecology and Stalker Force are basically on an ecological mission. The dinosaurs make it a lot cooler though. I really like how Andrei has distinguished between and named the Utahraptor packs. It makes me more immersed in the story as it’s representative of what would happen in real life. It was cool to hear a bit about Andrei’s survival before book 1 too.

I’m so glad Borodin got what he deserved, but I was a bit confused by Sergei’s sudden change? So, just because he killed a woman he rethought his life choices? He already killed a lot of innocent men. Idk. At least he died

It made sense that Ryan was going to die and it’s interesting that Eli is now leader of Vulture Squad. I wonder if he’s matured a bit after all of this.

I can’t believe Nikita is dead! I’m fuming, I really liked him. Borodin sucks, I really hope the Trex family kill him but I have a feeling he’s going to escape. I don’t understand why it took this much for Sergei to realise how corrupt things were when Nikita and Aleksandr had been telling him the whole time.

I’m really glad Ryan revealed himself but the reactions of his squad mates were a bit harsh lol

I feel like Miller didn’t have to die to be honest. He could’ve thrown the grenades at the oil barrels and ran off. I guess I do understand why he wanted to die though

Sergei is such an asshole. I really hope that Nikita kills him or that he dies from the Quetzels. Moreover, why tf did Jericho not just shoot them both? It’s so stupid, he could’ve easily won that exchange but just threw it away.

I like the developing relationship between Ryan and Andrei.

The relationship between Leon and Susan seems to be going well. They both seem to like each other as opposed to Lean lusting over her, so it’s quite sweet. I hope they end up leaving together.

Eli never fails to be infuriating, I just can’t really sympathise with him. Take away his alcoholism and he’s still very obnoxious and quite unlikeable.

I can’t believe Logan is dead, he was my favourite character. At least he saw Gerald at the end, it made death seem more peaceful for him. I’m so hyped that Kaprpsuchus is in this novel. I actually can’t believe it. They are never displayed in media but they’re so cool. Both the setting and animal descriptions never fail to paint an amazing image inside my head. I hope we see more of the Kapros

How is Eli in Vulture Squad but doesn’t understand the concept of mercy killing. He’s genuinely the most frustrating character. I hope Nikita beats the shit out of Sergei. This guy is delusional, I take back what I said about him. The way they were describing Susan was just cringing me out, I’m not sure if it’s just me or if it was actually kinda weird. And why did Ryan lie about the dinosaurs!?!?

I can’t believe that Gerald has died. It was definitely an act of service for Logan to kill him. I really hope it doesn’t make his schizophrenia worse. Gerald’s death is really the only death I feel moved by, I can’t believe he’s gone. On the other hand, I’m so glad Tolosky died. I feel like Sergei will be a decent person, I don’t think he’s going to be into all this killing like he thinks he is.

I feel like Logan and Gerald share the deepest connection out of everyone in Vulture Squad and it’s sweet how they rely on each other. In terms of the dinosaurs, I think it’s cool that they’ve gone with Deinonychus and Stygimoloch. You don’t really see those dinosaurs mentioned in modern media so it’s nice they have some representation. Somewhat scientific representation at that.

It’s very interesting to me that the T.Rex has some plumage. I’ve read up on the fact that they might have had some feathers but the description from the book doesn’t match modern science. Still I’m very impressed that the dinosaurs are somewhat scientifically accurate. I think that’s really cool, especially since most dinosaur media depicts them as featherless. I’m enjoying this so far

I like the description of the settings but not the characters. They’re written quite shallowly, like how a child would think a soldier would be. On each team the people all quite similar just with slight difference which I get, as a team their core values are going to be quite similar, but it just reads poorly. The only character I really like is Aleksander, I feel like he’s the only one with depth

I’m enjoying this book so far. I’m not usually interested in war literature but this sold me with the dinosaurs. I think the way the book is structured is pretty cool. Having the chapter name and number top left and small instead of bold and in the middle reads like a diary which is fitting with the war setting.

He’s finally realised that he is Tyler!! The way it all added up and how people kept calling him Tyler was perfect. Chuck is amazing. I’m interested to see how Tyler and The Narrator battle this out

I feel like people forget how good of a character Marla is. She really does care about The Narrator and is trying to help but I feel bad because she must be so confused about it all.

This is getting crazy, I completely forgot they turn into terrorists towards the end. I think the reason Tyler isn’t showing up as much is because The Narrator’s two personalities (himself and Tyler) are merging into one and becoming confusing to differentiate between ; Tyler is “naturally” more chaotic and The Narrator is spiralling. I feel so bad for him

I feel really bad for The Narrator,
his life seems miserable. Tyler is such a bad influence on The Narrator, it’s like he’s The Narrator’s intrusive thoughts (and he basically is). Again I have to praise Chuck’s writing, the way the book is structured makes it so easy to slip into The Narrators mindset, you can slowly see how he’s getting more and more deranged which coincides with Tyler appearing more.

Man, Chuck does such a great job. I feel how The Narrator is feeling, how confused and frazzled he is. It’s so stressful but it’s amazing because it’s so easy to get fully immersed. I love the premise of Fight Club (the actual club not the book) I feel like it’s a great way of getting frustration out but I know it wouldn’t work in the real world. I wonder if anyone has tried to replicate it

I’m really enjoying Fight Club so far. Chuck does an excellent job of putting the reader directly inside The Narrator’s mind. The constant flipping between different events and thoughts mirrors how he’s thinking about so many things at once, which makes the story feel chaotic. What makes it amazing is how it’s intentional and it’s just done so well. I can’t wait to read more
