Yeah, I just can’t. It’s me, not the book, which has a great tone. I’m just not feeling the usual, wildly inaccurate crap about “evil tyrant / murderer/ schemer, etc King Richard “, coming from the perspective of his niece (whom he DID NOT intend to marry), just no.
And the “Great King Henry VIII”. Please.
Maybe when I can be more open minded, I’ll try again.

My digital copy of this book is closer to 800 pages, half of which I suspect are appendices and further resources, but I don’t much know or care HOW long it is. It’s damn near perfect, if you ask me.

I’m taking a break from my other book to see if maybe “third time’s the charm” here, or if I’m just not meant to read this one… It is attention-grabbing and well-written, and I don’t doubt for a second that if I don’t finish this one this time, it will absolutely be ME, not the book…. We shall see….

I really appreciate the formatting used in this book, breaking each cited fact into their own sections, making it very easy to check the citation and jump immediately back to your spot in the book. This formatting also ensures that each individual fact is represented, with no confusion about what is being cited, as frequently there are multiple citations in each sentence.

I don’t remember reading this at all, and evidently I didn’t finish it the first time round. Movie was good though, and made me want to give it a (second
?!) chance. Let’s see how round two goes..
