Tan is the victim or believing his own hype nas king of "making up a guy"

This book is genuinely pretty bad but in like a funny way mostly it just feels like Tan complaining about everything

Tan has asserted that he is the most famous South Asian person in the world. Let's give him grace and say he meant the West. There has to be someone more famous than him name one quickly

Loving the implication that Tan thinks Aztecs are from India. Like I know he doesn't think that but his editor let this one slip because it really reads that way

I don't think Tan has lived long enough to write an autobiography. Still enjoying it though. 2 things can be true

Ive been cleaning out my closet so I have to pretend to hear Tan's voice in my head. Then I said I wonder if he wrote a book and here we are. So far so good. Also I've been struggling with reading lately so this is a good one to ease me back into it

Biggest takeaway that no on wants to tell u: Hitler was only able to do his thing cuz a bunch of corporations were funding him for like 10 years before the Nazis won anything because they knew a working class movement was gonna take over and they'd rather it be fascism than communism bc fascism wouldn't jeopardize their business especially after they'd been paying off Hitler for years

I feel genuinely sorry for everyone who thinks ANTM is "low brow" then reads this book instead. If you want to learn a lesson about beauty you should go to Tyra Banks not Oscar Wilde. Oscar Wilde needs 8 hrs to tell you Beauty is on the inside. Like I've never heard that before Tyra needs only 42 minutes to assume you know the obvious and also tell you how to elongate your neck, find your light, smize, etc.

Sometimes this is good but most of the times reading this feels like torture I think I'm just having a rough day sorry Oscar Wilde I liked your other stuff. I think we're beating a point to death sometimes with this book. And it was over hyped

I knew they had a troubled relationship but only now to I believe it. I think the daughter must have published this to get people to stop romanticizing what they were. I feel a little invasive but I'm going to keep going

Skipped the RHOC chapter bc I haven't watched that yet. Moved on to RHONY. Their Ramona impression is spot on but their Sonja is terrible 😭😭😭

Omg I finished it lives up to the praise as the best novel of all time!!!!!!!!!!! I loved it!!!!! I'm def going to read it again!!!!!!!!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ It was definitely a really perfect book to conclude my goal of reading 50 books in 2025. It really put me in a good mood to read it
