The ceremony scene was not what I expected it to be. It wasn’t as lustful on the part of the oppressors as I thought it would be. It makes you wonder how this society got here to begin with

I like it so far. The first 4 chapters don’t make anything seem too bad but by chapter 5 you feel the overwhelming but covert oppression. It feels like 1984. Some really really good quotes so far too

Lady de bourgh is such a silly bad guy like why would you not just lie and tell Darcy that Elizabeth don’t want you.
I love Darcy’s reflection after proposing to Elizabeth again. However I hate that Ms. Austen just glosses over these big moments like this one and bingley’s proposal. It just kinda happens
