Accidentally put in the wrong amount of progress. I was going to sit down and enjoy a chapter but apparently girl wrote a 30 page chapter? We serious? I’m procrastinating on this book now lolll Im scared

God, I want to binge this series so bad. IDK where the Black people are tbh, it seems like the Society is mostly made up of white people? Kind of weird in a story about the nature/power of Humanity. But I’m loving it. If it weren’t for college prep and all that shit, I would have finished this book already.

I need to look into finding Golden Son and Morning Star to purchase, as well as the next books too.

At this point, I'm concerned RR will fall into the power trap, where authors write about the conflict between those with power and those without, yet the author gets distracted by "ooh cool flashy power!" and the story completely forgets about those without power, thus proving the story's theme wrong and the antagonists right: ONLY people with power matter. PLEASE don't let all the important characters be Gold.

Usually, if someone said "fantasy is shallow," I would give them Dune or the ASOIAF or something. I don't want to judge a book when I'm only 95 pages in but this is friggin deep

This feels... very generic and classic. Great for some people, but the typical farm-boy becomes master fighter and also travel and adventure and also gets the girl just doesn't interest me anymore. These reads are great as a palate cleanser after some weird and unique fiction, but yeah. Not my cup of tea. His prose is really nice, though. He's a solid writer

I want to know what all the colors do!!! I can't wait for space battles and shit either, I can tell this is going to become a new favorite of mine. Lke, oi boi, this is going to be quite the story. I will need to study this for a while, in order to better write an infiltration plot, but bloodydamn this story is tight! We stan Darrow RAHH

Also Eo is a queen. These female characters that show up just to have this profound, beautiful moral tragedy are so interesting to me. Reflects society in a way. Adena, despite how much I hate Powerless was my faorite character besides Kitt for this reason. Besides that, the themes really are quite profound. Lots about slavery and opression that I didn't expect, actually. This... isn't your typical rebellion story...

Before I knew it I was flying through this thing. If it weren't for college prep, I would've finished this thing by now. Poor Eo, but I fully expect Darrow to die by the time Red God comes out. I mean, come on, thematically I think it's going to come full circle. It would be a brutal, but thematically powerful theme, but I also anticipate that happening. Maybe he plans to subvert that and let Darrow live.

I’m almost finished with this, and I think I’m dnf it for a bit. It’s clearly an excellent story, and I’ll need to study it more because my own stories are also very theme driven. At least, I’d like them to be. It’s just boring imo. Great story, just not fun to read.

This is a book. It is interesting. I like it so far, the worldbuilding is cool. Showering without water is disgusting. I don’t care how clean it is. Darrow has a fun personality. I like revenge. I am excited. I hope this book doesn’t disappoint me.

Family drama is drama-ing, college prep is not eating me alive, and our lord and savior the orange carrot makes me more ashamed to be American by the day

I like it, sure, but geez I see why people don’t like the Orogenes. They don’t deserve to be oppressed, but damn, they’re extremely dangerous, and I’d be scared of them too if I could destroy entire cities just because I’m angry.
