This feels... very generic and classic. Great for some people, but the typical farm-boy becomes master fighter and also travel and adventure and also gets the girl just doesn't interest me anymore. These reads are great as a palate cleanser after some weird and unique fiction, but yeah. Not my cup of tea. His prose is really nice, though. He's a solid writer

Well, the start certainly had me very interested, then it fell off, only to interest me again. I'm not a fan of the progression fantasy anime-style route but Hutson's windowpane prose is really creative sometimes, and so far I'm kind of hooked. Worried about Heth though, I hope he doesn't spend the entire series as a slave. Maybe he runs away or gains power or fame somewhere else :)
