I really grew into and enjoyed this. The story of a young man trying to find meaning in life and death. And a story about loss with a twist two thirds of the way through. Some interesting commentary of post-revolutionary Iran too.

Felt like I was missing numerous layers of meaning here because of a lack of knowledge of Argentina. As a result, this novel passed me by.

Excellent post-colonial story interweaving the history of Congo with the history of a preachers family. Told from the perspective of the 4 daughters and mother in alternating chapters. Brilliantly written, but could be shorter!
