I have so much second-hand embarrassment from this book. I can only read one paragraph at a time and then stop to breathe and remember it’s a story. I have the impression it’s trying to much to be edgy.

I’m French so I like to complain but I struggle with notations because I don’t want to be too mean “there are two wolves inside you” situation.

I’m reading a lot of romances at the moment because I tend to feel overwhelmed with other books (but I don‘t DNF, Mama raised no quitter).

I‘m following people who wrote at least one review that made me laugh.

Legitimate fear but that’s also normal that life changes and you loose some friends, you keep some - she said at some point she went to therapy but what did they talk about because clearly she still has the same issues than when she was a teenager

I don’t like it, I cannot DNF because I’m reading it for my feminist book club but, boy, do I not like it. I’m feeling bad for saying that when it’s based on the real life and struggles of a person but it’s boring. I thought it would be the cool road trip of 2 best friends and it’s not that.

I have to say it because a lot of romances have this scene and it is WRONG. You need to use protection for oral sex too if you’re not tested, penetration is not the only way to get STDs and, as STEM majors, they should know.

I had to search a lot of terms, at least she did more research than E.L.James (it might be an unfair accusation, never read those) - not sure I’d be in a Daddy Dom/Little Girl type of relationship, the denomination feels wrong

Ok maybe don’t call a monster « drake » if your male character is called Draven. I thought during the chapter that Draven was the plural for baby drakes

Again « outside of earshot » might be really far, knowing they were able to hear a woman crash into the ground of a big, big wall

She’s glaring a lot for only 3 chapters. Also I don’t understand why they would want to change people who hate them and give them powers as they can have kids? Seems like an unnecessary danger

I’m not sure I understand the Selection. Every year, one of the three immortal clans or whatever choose 100 mortal people but all her family was taken only by druids? I’m not saying it’s impossible but it’s statistically unbelievable… and what does that mean some territories were not selected?

I think I’m gonna update every advancement I make in this book but violence is never ok, it upsets me that she’s not thinking about seeing a therapist when she knows her behavior is not ok… and a mental illness is not an excuse, I didn’t find her unlikable before but now I’m judging hard

I’m in love with Patrick, I regret judging him so harshly on the first pages. It’s not a romance per se but he created more expectations about men than any of the other leads I read this year.
